Ever since the Industrial Revolution, humans had tried to automate manual labor. Tree planting was never automated, the Planetary Forest was considered an infinite resource and as such, approx. 12000 years ago, our ancestors had initiated a massive deforestation, leading to the loss of almost half of all planetary forests. They did this to kick-start our civilisation, using forest wood for combustion and construction. Unknown to our ancestors, the planetary forest served a critical role as the climate regulator. Fast forward today, legislators are trying to undo the damage, but the technology to Mass Deploy new forests does not exists… yet.
At SeedPods, we are leveraging three key innovations. First, we have designed a standardised, 3D printed tree capsule, in which seedlings can be grown from seeds at an industrial scale. Second, these standardised capsules that can cary many different species (oak, fir, spruce, pine) are deployed using robotinc tree planters, 3D custom constructed Leonardo drones. These releases their capsules from a high altitude and plants the new seedlings fast and accurate. Thirdly, we have designed the worlds first intelligent Forest Designer software. In this, we simply input a terrain geometry, we select a forest profile (Transilvanean Plateau, Industrial Pine etc) and the software automatically computes and simulates a future forest, ideal trees placement, trees percentages, and outputs drone navigation files and planting instructions. The entire process is designed to be automated, end-to-end. We design a forest in software using the mathematics that nature embedded in ecosystems, we industrially grow containerised seedlings, and we mass deploy them using the Leonardo drones.
